Founded in Chicago in 2018, RIGHT PROPER is an ever-changing collection of wonderfully difficult-to-categorize objects. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Retzer has spent more than twenty years buying around the world, following his eye rather than a trend.

Important or anonymous. Refined or primitive. Useful or completely unnecessary. Retzer believes the best collections aren’t defined by genre, period, or pedigree. They’re defined by the things you can’t quite explain, but couldn’t possibly leave behind.
